McCann moved to third on a fielding error by Christin Stewart. James McCann singled Collins over to third, and Yolmer Sanchez drove in Collins with a single to left field. The Pale Hose countered with Dylan Cease, who entered the game with a record of 3-7 and a 6.18 ERA.Ĭhicago opened the scoring in the second inning when Eloy Jimenez tripled and scored on a double by Zach Collins. Zimmermann, sporting a record of 1-11 and a 6.37 ERA for the season, took the mound for Detroit, looking for his second win of the season and his first since July 29. Those turned out to be the highlights of the evening for the hometown fans. Some of the 15,000 fans on hand were treated to a 1984 commemorative vinyl record entitled Bless You Boys, and it was also Irish Heritage Night at Comerica Park. Regardless, we still need them to go into the playoffs as hot as possible.Jordan Zimmermann was shelled for nine runs as the Detroit Tigers dropped their fourth straight game to the Chicago White Sox, this one by a score of 10-1. However, seeing them officially clinch again will be great news for the franchise so it is fun to root for. In fact, the Sox are in as good of a spot as they could possibly be in right now. The roles will be reversed a little bit as the White Sox have a tough opponent while the Indians have a little bit easier of a team to face.īy no means should anyone be scared of Cleveland catching the White Sox. Meanwhile, the Indians will be home to face the Minnesota Twins. After that, the White Sox start a very tough series against the Oakland A’s in the bay area. The White Sox have another one later today against the Royals and the Indians have one against the Red Sox. It would be nice to see the bats swing like this when the playoffs begin. That was what we saw happen when the White Sox scored double-digit runs again. The 2021 Chicago White Sox are an incredibly fun team to watch right now. Now, the stars are healthy and the offense is there. The entire season has been about pitching and getting by while we wait for some stars to get healthy. It was exciting to see the White Sox win a game as they did on Saturday night. For a 120-year-old team, it is pretty sad but the future is where it’s at. This team is going to make it the first time that the White Sox have ever made the playoffs two years in a row. All clinching would do is make it official but it is a big deal for White Sox fans. They are out of time and they were sellers at the trade deadline. With the White Sox win and the Cleveland Indians loss, their magic number to clinch a postseason berth went from 20 to 18. They win pitcher’s duels and they win offensive games like the one on Saturday. The White Sox are clearly a team that can win games in multiple different ways. It was one of those games where someone like Salvador Perez of the Kansas City Royals had a great day at the plate to make things interesting but the White Sox offense exploded themselves. They did so by mostly having a bullpen game after Reynaldo Lopez started a decent game. The Chicago White Sox defeated the Kansas City Royals by a final score of 10-7.
